England’s cricketing fraternity is abuzz with the latest emergence of young batting talent in the form of Harry Brook. Brook recently made headlines in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, where he was picked up by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise for a whopping INR 13.25 crore in the auction. However, Brook's start to the tournament was not very impressive, and fans were quick to judge him and troll him on social media.
Brook had failed to perform in the first three matches, and fans were already questioning the hefty price tag that SRH had paid for him. However, in the fourth match, Brook silenced his critics with a scintillating hundred against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The young talent scored an unbeaten 100 from just 55 balls, including 12 fours and 3 sixes, and was declared the Player of the Match and the Cricinfo Most Valuable Player.
After the match, Brook spoke out against the Indian fans who were trolling him for his lack of performance in the first few games. In an interview with Harsha Bhogle, Brook admitted that the negative comments on social media had added to the pressure that he already felt. But he also slammed the Indian fans who had been criticising him and said that he was glad he could shut them up with his performance.

Harsha - When you first saw your price at the auction and then you came here, was there at any point in you the desire to live up to the expectation of the price?
Brook - I think I was putting pressure on myself a little bit after the first few games, obviously. If you go on social media, people will call any rubbish and yeah, you start to slightly doubt yourself a little bit but I just went out there with the I don't care mentality tonight and thankfully it came off.
Harsha - I've been on social media a little while. I couldn't give you any other advice than to say don't read your mentions. - Absolutely.
Brook - Maybe today I'll do that in like that. - That's the best way to look at it. There's a lot of Indian fans out there to be saying well done tonight but they were slagging me off a few days ago so yeah I'm glad that I can shut them up to be honest.
Brook's response to the negativity he faced was brave and honest. It takes a lot of mental strength to deal with criticism and negative comments, especially on social media, and Brook showed that he had what it takes. However, his strong words may have triggered some Indian fans who will now look for opportunities to troll him after every failure.

The young batsman is undoubtedly a talented player who has the potential to become a star for England in the future. He needs to focus on his cricket and not get distracted by the negativity on social media. While it is natural for fans to be disappointed with poor performances, it is essential to remember that players are humans and that negative comments can be hurtful.
In conclusion, Harry Brook is an exciting new talent in English cricket, and we can expect to see more of him in the future. He has already shown that he has the talent and temperament to succeed at the highest level, and he just needs to keep working hard and focusing on his game. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
